Ten years ago, a faithful few stood in line to purchase a new beer we had been working on. That beer was 2010 Bourbon County Stout Rare and the concept of waiting in line for beer was unheard of. Our idea to release a very special small batch of Bourbon County Brand Stout grew to be one of the biggest beer releases in the world. As we stood in line with fans, shared beers, swapped stories, and made new friends, we realized that Bourbon County Stout is more than just a beer we brew here in Chicago: it’s a common denominator that brings people together.
2020 has brought its challenges. Now more than ever, we need something positive to look forward to. That’s why we will be moving forward with our annual Black Friday release of Bourbon County Stout, however, this year will look a little different.
In preparation of the release, we are providing suggested safety recommendations and resources to our retail partners across the country and urging them to implement these measures to get Bourbon County Stout safely into the hands of our fans. You’ll see lottery systems, pre-purchasing the beer and having select pick-up times is going to replace the overnight parking lot camping and the waiting in long lines of years’ past. We are asking that our retail partners put the safety of our fans’ first and communicate safety protocols as early and as clearly as possible.
Now, onto our fans...we are all in this together and ask that you respect social distancing measures put in place and be patient with us and your local retailer or bottle shop. While the process of purchasing this year’s BCS lineup may be a little different, what’s in the bottle is what it’s all about...and we promise it’ll be worth it.
To all of our faithful fans who have waited for Bourbon County Stout releases throughout our 10 years of Black Friday celebrations: we hope to raise a glass with you soon. Contact your local retailer or bottle shop for how to purchase this year’s BCS lineup on Black Friday.
We'll be sure to link to as many retailer's plans below. Check back often as we make updates.
Cheers and stay safe
