A collaboration with J. Henry & Sons
In the fields of Henry Farms, just north of Madison Wisconsin, Joe Henry and his sons have been raising heirloom red corn, heritage wheat and rye for over 50 years. While some distilleries and farmers grow their corn for yield, Joe took a different route and grew for flavor. It’s with those beautiful grains that they craft their premium whiskey and age it in No. 3 charred American oak barrels. The result is a uniquely Wisconsin bourbon.
Highlighting the artisanal approach used by J. Henry & Sons in their whiskey making, our brewers recreated that unique process in this collaboration. Borrowing from the rich brewing tradition we use in crafting our barleywines, Husk takes the red heirloom corn carefully grown by Henry farms and yields an incredibly complex “harvestwine.” We then aged this ale for a year in freshly emptied bourbon barrels from J. Henry. The result is a beer that’s perfect for harvest season with notes of toffee, vanilla, dried fruit & almond.
