The Sofie-mosa. Or is it the Mimofie? We’re not sure what to call it, but we do know that it is delicious and it is the perfect beer cocktail for brunch.

Sofie is a Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale, also known as a saison. The saison, which is French for “season”, was traditionally brewed in cooler months to be enjoyed by farm workers throughout the warm months of summer.

Sofie is aged in wine barrels with an abundance of hand-zested orange peel. Spicy white pepper notes contrast the citrus tartness. Sofie has a light, refreshing, creamy vanilla finish.

The bright, tart, citrus character of Sofie is complemented by the sweet citrus character of the orange juice, blending together to form a simple, yet elegant beer cocktail.

The recipe is simple:

1 part Sofie

1 part fresh-squeezed orange juice

Add some garnish if you’re feeling particularly fancy

(Note - be sure to pour Sofie before the orange juice, as Sofie’s effervescence has a tendency to bubble over the glass when added after the orange juice)

Food pairing

The sweet citrus character of the Sofie-mosa pairs wonderfully with a number of brunch favorites. The rich hollandaise sauce of eggs Benedict contrasts perfectly with the light and refreshing qualities of the Sofie-mosa.
